Hi All-
I just started shaking out a (new to me) DX-100. It basicly works, but some meter readings seem a bit 'fishy'. I'm watching the output on an SB-610 monitor. If I load the plate current to 250 ma per the book, on phone, it seems like the modulation goes to cutoff long before it gets to 100% on the upward side. Modulator idle current is high, around 100ma, and doesn't peak up much more than 125 ma. If I load the finals to 300ma, it looks much more 'right', and makes 150+ watts output, but that's probably too much for the 6146's.
The book has no voltage readings in it, unlike newer heathkit books. Surprisingly, even the components are unnumbered!
Anyone with some experience on bias readings in the finals, modulators, and drivers would be a big help. I'm guessing something is a bit off, like bias voltages due to resistors drifting, caps leaking, or gassy tubes.
Thanks,
Tony, K1KP
