HI all --

Over the years I've tried various things to remove pitted rust from
chassis, and have acheivied various results.

One of my "in progress" radios is an HQ-170 that has pitted rust
over the entire chassis. I tried some new products this time and
have been impressed with the results.

First, I clean with Isopropyl Alchohol and then rubbing compound if
ncesssary. That yields a clean chassis, but is very marginal about
removing pitted rust etc. Now the new stuff. I then apply a coating of
"Klean Strip Rust Remover", let dry, and wash off as per instructions.
Then I apply one or two coats of "Never-Dull" metal polish. I've been
impressed with the results. The pitted rust is removed and the
chassis is bright and shiny.

The Rust Remover is available a Wal-Mart, and I got the Never Dull
at my local hardware store.
