Hi all;
New to the lists, maybe someone can help me out here. A while back my
Drake TR-3 quit on me. Had it monitoring something (too far back to
remember), left the room, came back, and the receive had quit on me while I
was gone. Whenever I turn it on, the S-Meter pegs all the way to the left
below S1 and my speaker pops and hisses like an old record. It still
transmits okay, so I'm fairly positive it's in the RX.
I've been told by a few guys that it may be an AGC tube gone bad. They all
light up okay and none have any odd discoloration, so I couldn't tell
anything by just looking at them.
Has this happened to anyone? Does anyone else agree / disagree on an AGC
tube? I want to be as positive as I can get that it's one of the AGC tubes
before I shell out the cash for a new one :^)
Any help is appreciated!
