Hey Mark - beleive it or not my 5100 had the exact same
exciter control short situation. It ruined a pair of 5R4's
(cement bubbled out onto chassis, filaments opened up*)
but the transformers survived. A dark regulator indicates
NO current, as in the voltage dropping below 150.
* That was a PREVIOUS ownder - looks like someone threw it
into transmit and went out for a beer.
