Bob,

Only one caution on substitutions, while most recitifiers have the same pin 
out, in addition to different peak voltage and recitfied current ratings, 
they do have different FILAMENT CURRENT requirements.  Putting a 3 amp 
filament tube in a set supplying only 2 amps would result in 15 watts more 
load on the transformer.   Unfortunately neither of my handbooks shows the 
5AR4/GZ34, so I can't tell you what you filament load should be.  Maybe 
another list member?
