Thanks for all who responded to my "hollar". The 18K resistor was bad. Down 
to 160 ohms...same as dead short. I just couldn't remember what I had read 
about the VFO. Been a long time. Anyway, moved new resistor to the bottom of 
chassis.thanks again....Al/W8FAX
