[Boatanchors] 201A tubes

Hi George:
I recently restored my A-K Model 10 breadboard, and got it playing! The 201A
tubes are reasonably common. Iterations that are useful are 01A, 301A, and a
few others. They're all interchangeable.
You may want to try Antique Electronics Supply. It usually offers them.
Also, you can mount a cheap Radio Shack JFET (such as an MPF-102 or -105) in
either the tube base, or under the chassis as a tube substitute. Some of the
gang get their old TRFs running that way.
Check the AWA archives and also QST for info on how to do this. Read the
article "Solid Tubes-- A New Life for Old Designs" by Howard Sartori, April
1977 QST. I'd be happy to send you a copy.
FET conversion is really easy. I've done it for the mixers in an R-392
receiver, but it runs on 28-V, making the task a tad easier. Good
performance though.
Good luck!

Hello,
Anyone have any good 201A tubes or know where they might be had? I have an
Atwater Kent breadboard and need tubes.
Thanks
George
