Thanks for all the replies on the NC-101X. I set it up with headphones alone,
since that is what I prefer anyway. Put a 4.7 ohm 10W resistor across the
"filed" connections. Works fine. If I had had hum, I would have used a small
filter choke, but no problem.
Got it all cleaned up, DeOxed, caps replaced, and peaked up. Started right
off on 20M CW. Even with a contest on, can twiddle the crystal filter to get
good copy. After 30 min warm up, solid as a rock. "They don't build 'em like
that anymore."
