I've owned one but never really used it. ......

Just built a coil winder sorta like the Coilmaster (scrap aluminum,
old potentiometers for brass bushings, old knob inserts for collets,
knobs with aluminum skirts for cams, roller bearing from PC disk
drive for cam follower, etc) and have a few questions. Picture is
on my websete at http://www.qsl.net/k5bcq/

Looks like the gears which come with the Coilmaster would allow
spindle to crank ratios of from 0.9:1 to 1.1:1 ....I guess this is to
"walk" the turns around the coil and would depend on wire size,
pattern, etc. My cams give enough movement for up to 3/8"
width coils (I'm not sure what the max width is for a "Coilmaster")
but you can always use multiple coils ......like on RF chokes. Any
wider coil would probably require a greater spindle to crank ratio.
I don't have any Litz wire and magnet wire with beeswax
still tends to create a "domed" basket weave winding. If you use
a wooden disk/plastic spool for "sides" the wire does not have
time to make it to the side before the cam reverses direction. This
again results in a domed winding as the outer turns collapse
because they never make it to the spool sides.

I know this can be made to work better.
