I'm completing my resistance checks on my HQ-170 prior to power
up, and everything looks good except around the Calibrator tube
V11 and Z1.
The readings are off considerably. I've found the following descrepencies
between my unit and the manual (Issue 2) that came with my radio:
1) R99 (47K) is not in my unit, and it doesn't look like it ever was.
2) C51 is 220 pf on my unit, not 100 pf.
I measure 4.7K between V11 pin 2 and ground, and pin 7 and ground,
which makes sense as pins 2 and 7 are tied together. The manual
says these should be 47K. Looking at the schematic for Z1, this should
be the value of the resistor between Z1 pins 5 and 6 (Gnd). Granted,
the resistor could fail, but I find it rather hard to believe it would fail
from 47K to 4.7K !!
The manual says the resistances between V11 pin 5 and Gnd should
be 500 Ohms, and 50K between pin 6 and Gnd, both with the Function
switch in the CAL position). My measurements are 470K and 110K
respectively. From looking at the schematics, I can see where my
measurements come from.
Question: Could I have the incorrect manual? I downloaded the stuff
from BAMA, and it agrees with my manual. However, there's gotta be
an issue 1 of the manual.
