For folks who might be interested:
The Voice of America has been testing digital modes over AM for the
last two weekends, and will continue doing so for a least a few more weekends.
If you have a radio connected through your soundcard (or that
capability) you can use something like fldigi to copy most of the
signals. I have used this program and DM780 from Ham Radio Deluxe,
but so far fldigi does the most complete job because some of the
tests are run with forward error correction, and if DM780 has it I
have not found it yet.
You could also record the audio from your radio and then hold it up
to the microphone input of a laptop while the program is in receive
mode and it might work.
Last week's test also involved another program related to fldigi
called flmsg which can be downloaded at the same site, which receives
a digital signal and then creates a basic web (.htm) page out of it. Very cool!
From an email I received in reply to a report posting:

Reports would be appreciated. Audio samples, screenshots, etc are welcomed.
Future programs will feature...
March 30-31: MFSK
April 6-7: MT63
April 13-14: Olivia

I had fun with it and you might find it fun as well!
