Don't forget that field day is this weekend at Smith Park in Middletown.
We will be starting our setup tomorrow (Friday) at exactly 2 pm at the
park. Some of us will be there at lunch time to finalize the setup and
get the trailers, tents and campers there.
If you are planning on assisting in the setup, please be there when you
can. Setup will start at 2 PM tomorrow (Friday) and continue until dark.
We will start setup again at 8:30 AM Saturday and will continue until
starting time at 2 PM. Tear down will start about Noon on Sunday and
probably last until 5 PM.
At the present time we are geared up to run the following stations: One
CW station, two phone stations, one VHF/UHF station and one
demonstration/GOTA station. Please feel free to stop in and operate any
time between 2 PM Saturday and 2 PM Sunday. We want to keep the radios
humming for the entire 24 hours.
To get to our site, enter the main entrance of the park off of Tytus
Avenue, one block west of Route 4/73 (Verity Parkway). Our site is on
the right side as you enter the park. Turn right at the stop sign and
park. Talk in on 146.61.
If you are arriving after DARK and before 6 am, the front gate will be
locked. You can enter the park via a back entrance. That entrance is off
of Route 122, about 300 feet west of Main Street. It is the City of
Middletown 'Maintenance Services' and water plant entrance. Enter that
drive and immediately turn right. Proceed through the parking lot and
then turn right and go past the Electronics/Parks building. You will
reach the salt storage barn, there turn left and you will be on the park
road. Take that road until you pass through the first stop sign - then
you are there. Zoom in on the left side of this drawing to see where the
night entrance is located. http://www.qsl.net/w8blv/images/smithmapa.jpg
(loads slow)
Remember the covered dish family picnic at 6 pm Saturday. That is the
time to eat, meet and greet each other. There is usually a crowd there
until after dark.
Bring a lawn chair.....
Please pass this message along to those who may be attending.

P.S. If you want a street map showing how to get to the park, go to:
http://maps.yahoo.com Then enter "580 Tytus Avenue" and a zip code
45042. It will bring up the map with a red star at the entrance.
