On April 29th from 9 am to 5 pm, the Harvard Wireless Club will be hosting the Harvard Amateur Radio Symposium <http://tiny.cc/hwc2017> on campus. We will have a variety of interesting speakers from around the world on topics ranging from the technical to the historical to the social. All are welcome at this exciting meeting! The event is free but a donation is humbly requested in order to help us put this event on for the public.

Hello All,

Over the next few days, please defer to event traffic on the 145.23
repeater during the BAA 5k on Saturday, and during the Boston marathon on
Monday.

Also, the 449.175 W1BOS DMR repeater will be disconnected from the NE-TRBO
network and used for event traffic from Saturday until Monday. Please
refrain from using the DMR repeater during that time; you may be
interfering with event traffic on another talk group.  The repeater will
return to the network by Tuesday morning.

Please join BARC at the Clay Center Observatory in Brookline at 7:30PM on
Thursday, April 20, for our monthly general meeting. Our guest speaker will
be Dennis Egan, W1UE, presenting about RTTY.

W1UE has been a licensed ham for 48 years. His major passion in amateur
radio is contesting; he finished in 4th place for WRTC Qualification in the
W1-W2-W3 area, is the current president of the Yankee Clipper Contest Club,
and is the Chairman of the ARRL Contest Advisory Committee.

His talk includes a brief history of RTTY, how to tune in a RTTY signal,
and how to create a RTTY signal. Many of the techniques involved in RTTY
(the second oldest digital mode) are applicable to other digital modes.

Er, SATURDAY, April 29. Don't go on Sunday, the symposium won't be
there. And note that it's in the Science Center now; it was originally
scheduled to be in Harvard Hall in the Yard but got moved to a larger
room because of demand.
