Dear friends,

I have some unhappy news: Eric Falkof, K1NUN, passed away
unexpectedly last Sunday, November 17.

Eric was an active amateur radio operator for 53 years and a popular
speaker at BARC and other clubs in eastern Massachusetts. I knew him
as a thoughtful and generous man, and great fun to be around. Last
year I had the privilege of wandering through the Harvard Wireless
Club's attic with Eric and Bill, W1PL. Eric was in rare form,
bounding about, blowing layers of dust off WWII-era phantastron
wobbulators with a running commentary and occasional tips about
identifying mysterious tubes (put them in the freezer, and when you
take them out they'll fog up and you can read the legends) and
reforming filter capacitors (connect to a Variac and bring up about
five volts every thirty minutes). I'll miss him very much.

According to the Boston Globe obituary, services are at Temple Shir
Tikva, 141 Boston Post Rd. (Route 20), Wayland, on Thursday, November
21 at 1:00 p.m.

Joseph Chapman NV1W
President, Boston Amateur Radio Club.
