I was just informed by Josh Weinstein Boston University will launch BU-SAT tomorrow from Mt. Greylock in western Mass at about noon. Details follow:

Josh Weinstein called me to tell that the BU radio club is launching a ballon with APRS tracking Saturday, about noon, from atop Mount Greylock in northwestern Massachusetts. The purpose is fun, experimentation, and science. The balloon's payload will monitor weather, pressure, temperature, and movement. Someone is sacrificing a cellphone so they'll have a video component, as well.

BU is partnering with MATCHSCHOOL.ORG, a charter school program, to bring city students and science together.

They have a payload with the APRS beacon on 144.39 MHz, using the callsign KB1VXA.

Listen for the beacon and track the progress at APRS.FI and enter your comments. Send reports to either BUSAT at BU.EDU or on APRS.FI.

Please share this information widely in the eastern NY, southern VT, NH, and ME, northern CT, and all of MA. We do not know where the wind will take the balloon, so a wide listenership is invited.
