BARC Field Day 2007
-- Eric Falkof, K1NUN
Again this year, we will operate from the top of Larz Anderson
Park in Brookline, on Saturday, 23 June.

One of the primary focal points of this year’s event is to Elmer
newbies. All BARC members, hams, and those interested in ham radio
are urged to come, operate, and ask questions.

We will have a wealth of experience in radio theory, radio
selection, radio operation, antenna theory and installation,
contesting, DXing, and more. With just basic equipment, we should be
able to travel light.

That is, setup should be brief and we should get on the air with
minimum fuss. Ditto tear-down at the end of the day. This is a
more representative situation if ever BARC receives a call to get
on the air from a portable location fast. We will actually have
little advance preparation, so portability and mobility should be
emphasized. Notwithstanding the preparedness aspect, we also
intend to have fun with radios and have a good time.

The club will set up one complete station, from antenna to power
supply. Everyone is welcome to operate, but you are asked to
help set up and tear down the station.

Below is a list of committed equipment, the least amount of gear
needed to get on the air and have fun. Those wishing to stay
overnight will make their own arrangements for shelter, lighting,
food, and radio equipment to use overnight and on Sunday. All
persons will be responsible for policing the grounds after
themselves.)

The club’s planned day begins about 1000 on Saturday, 23 June
and ends shortly before sundown. Official operating starts at
1400 local time. The public and visiting hams are welcome.
If you see something missing, bring it
 but bring it home when
we are done!

If you want to establish your own station (more bands, more
modes, etc.), bring all you need to be independent. Please
coordinate your plans with Mark, KB1EKN, the Field Day Chair,
at emgmgt at comcast.net.

Discussion about these matters will be the subject of the BARC
General meeting on Thursday, 21 June.

Those who wish to continue on their own may stay through to
Sunday afternoon, as we have permission to use the area until
then.
