Hi everyone,

Greetings from sunny California and Handiham Radio Camp! Once again I'm
honored to have been invited by the friendly folks at the Courage Center
Handiham program in Golden Valley, Minnesota to help instruct at the
camp. It is located at Camp Costanoan in the mountains of Cupertino,
south of San Francisco.

We have roughly 22 campers, eight student counselors/caregivers, along
with half-dozen volunteer ham instructors from all over the country in
attendance at the week-long camp. This year, the largest class by far is
the Operating Skills group (which I facilitate). It's so large in fact,
that we've broken it into two sessions for the 17 people total. We're
covering a wide range of activities, including HF operation, EchoLink,
Emergency Communications, antennas and feed lines, and contesting. The
camp has two separate HF stations using G5RV antennas, along with
accompanying VHF/UHF positions. We also have a Technician and General
class. At the end of the week we'll conduct an ARRL VE session for those
studying for new tickets or upgrades.

I'm sorry to have missed Len's excellent presentation last week. We have
a really good program lined up for March; I hope to make that meeting.

73,

Phil, K9HI/6
