The Boston Amateur Radio Club will be participating in the 2006 SKYWARN
Recognition Day at the Blue Hill Observatory, Milton, Massachusetts on this
coming Saturday, December 2, 2006. The event will run from 0900 to 1500.
All amateur radio operators and non-hams alike are invited to join us for a
fun day.

This will be the fourth year that BARC has joined forces with the fine folks
from the Blue Hill Observatory to host SKYWARN Recognition Day. There will
be demonstrations of amateur radio equipment and a chance to operate from
one of the highest elevations in Eastern Massachusetts. BARC will be
operating on multiple bands under the call sign: W1BOS/MQE. On a clear day
it is possible to see out almost 100 miles from the Observatory.

SKYWARN Recognition Day is an event where National Weather Service Forecast
Offices get on the air and make contacts with other NWS Offices as well as
all Amateurs and any Amateur Radio SKYWARN Spotters. The purpose is to thank
the thousands of Amateur Radio SKYWARN Spotters whose timely severe weather
reports into NWS Forecast Offices across the country protect life and
property.

The Blue Hill Observatory is located at the summit of Great Blue Hill on the
Blue Hills Reservation at the junction of Routes 93 and 138 about 10 miles
south of Boston. From 128, go north on Route 138 and just past the
Trailside Museum is an access road on the right side. Proceed to the summit
(watch out for hikers) and park only in marked spaces. The Blue Hill
Observatory web site is: www.bluehill.org.

The SKYWARN Recognition Day program is sponsored by the National Weather
Service. Further information on SKYWARN Recognition Day can be found at:
