Here is an updated announcement for the September General Meeting of the
Boston Amateur Radio Club. The meeting will begin at 19:00 not 19:30. I
apologize for the confusion. Bob Salow also provided updated parking

September, 2005 General Meeting Announcement
By - Blake T. Haskell, K1BTH
The location for the September BARC General Meeting has changed. The
meeting will be held in the Community Room of the Newton Police Department,
1321 Washington Street, West Newton, Massachusetts on Thursday September
15th at 1900 hours. The Newton Police Headquarters Community Room was made
available through the efforts of Captain Howard Mintz, WA1CFX, a BARC
member. Thank you Howard!
The Salvation Army personnel will be very busy with Hurricane Katrina relief
efforts and the normal meeting room space will not be available. (We will
confirm the location of the October meeting space as soon as possible and
let you know of any change.)
We will install the new officers of BARC and our guest speaker will be Bill
Ricker, N1VUX, who will review the SKYWARN program. With the utter
devastation in the South from Hurricane Katrina, hurricane preparedness and
awareness becomes more important and Bill's experience and knowledge with
the SKYWARN program will be very informative and timely.
Parking is available in the adjacent municipal parking lot. Do not attempt
to park in the Police Department lot as you will most likely be tagged and
towed. No exceptions![Blake T. Haskell] The municipal parking lot must be
entered from Waltham St, not from Cherry St, behind the police station .
Waltham St can be entered from Watertown St, but not from Washington St.
>From Washington St, take Cherry St and go completely around the block to get
to Waltham St.
Commuter Rail P531 from Back-Bay or South Station
Bus 553 or 554 from Otis & Summer in Boston
Stiff walk from Woodland (D)
MBTA trip-planner (with accessibility mode) www.mbta.com
1321 Washington Street is very near Mass Pike Exit 16 & West Newton Station.
BARC will provide refreshments.
Please spread the word far and wide on this venue change.
Thanks, and we look forward to seeing you on the 15th.
