[BARC-List] Another Marine VHF question

Consumer level marine VHF radios currently go up to channel 88a which
is 157.425 mhz. But I understand that older marine units used to go
much higher, possibly to channel 120 or so. I've searched high and low
for a listing of these old frequencies but always come up empty handed.
I'm curious as to what frequencies were used for these higher channels
and what has become of their allocation. Have they be re-purposed to
non-marine use? Who has rights to use them now?
