I update lists of hams for each US congressional district in MA several
times each year. In response to a request, here is the information that applies
to BARC members as currently listed on www.barc.org.

There are 10 US congressional districts in Massachusetts. BARC has members
in 9 of them.
There are 14,753 licensed hams in Massachusetts as of 20 Jan 2005.
NOTES:
1. Licensees for this purpose are defined as thoe people listed in the FCC
database
as of 20 January 2005 whose licenses will not go beyond the renewal
grace period
before 1 April 2005.
2. Congressional districts were determined by taking addresses as
registered with
the FCC, then using them on the US congress web site to determine
the
congressional district. For towns including more than one district,
9 digit ZIP
codes were used. If the Massachusetts congressional delegation all
sent junk
mail to their ham constituents, the list below will tell you who
yours would be
coming from.
3. The largest number of BARC members in a single district are in District
7,
Ed Markey’s district. Representative Markey is the most influential
person we
have available to support ham radio issues.
4. Of the entire Massachusetts delegation only one Representative has
supported
the ham radio legislation (HR1478, the CC&R bill): John Olver of
District 1, the only
district where there are no BARC members.
5. There are no e-mail addresses given because an email request from any
congressional web page goes to a single e-mail robot used to
distribute mail to
all congressmen.
