I have the good fortune to be near the top of a fairly high hill far enough
inland that I would be involved in picking up pieces of other areas. This is
much better than where I grew up down in Texas: the land really is so flat
that a major tsunami could hit as far north as Austin, and most would funnel up
the ship channel and obliterate Houston. In my present situation, my
preparation would be the same as usual: keep a lot of fully charged batteries and
see to it the rigs are in top shape.
For those who want to contemplate what disasters involving tsunamis could be
I recommend reading LUCIFER'S HAMMER by Larry Niven. Great, if unsettling,
storytelling and the science of the story was meticulously researched.
