Hobby or service? Service or hobby? What is Amateur Radio?
According to FCC rules, Part 97, we are subscribers to the Amateur Radio Service. Yet, we act as if it were a hobby. What is a hobby? What is a service? What is Amateur Radio?

For me, Amateur Radio is my hobby of providing service. In college, I was a member of a service fraternity, a group who enjoyed being together while helping others by doing good. It is still enjoyable to me… as a hobby. That is, providing service. I use Amateur Radio, a service, to practice my hobby.
