[BARC-List] Broadcast AM antenna replacement for car?

Last summer my wife and I visited a car wash and got her 1994 Toyota
Corolla cleaned. In the process, the antenna broke. It contains wires
for AM and FM reception. I want to find a cheap replacement for the AM
side.

There is just enough exposed antenna wire I could hack a fix if I found
the right conduit to connect it to. Would a door/window-mounted cellular
antenna work? Maybe a mag-mount cellular on the roof?

What have people done? A genuine rod antenna replacement costs about $50
or more. I'd prefer to spend less, since the radio is hardly used.

Thanks for any insight.
