On October 11th, 2003 the USS Constitution, the United States oldest
commissioned warship, and the USS Cassin Young, a destroyer museum ship,
will get underway in Boston Harbor. These two historic warships will meet
the USS Chaffee, DDG-90, a modern Arleigh Burke class destroyer, and then
return to thier berths at the "Old Boston Navy Yard". While the ships are
underway honors will be rendered while passing Fort Independance, on Castle
Island, with cannons.
There will be an Amateur Radio Station onboard these famous ships
during this event. The USS Constitution will bear the callsign, N1S, the
USS Cassin Young will use the ,WW2DD, callsign, the Boston Navy Yard will
be identifying as N1B and the USS Chaffee will use KS4E and KF6MLK. Our
operations will be on 40 meters, 20 meters, 17 meters, and 2 meters.
(146.52 ) QSL manager for N1S and N1B is W1QWT. QSL manager for WW2DD is
K1RMC. Check back for more information.
