This is what I have at the moment for the Calendar section of the Boston
Globe. The length (as far under 100 words as possible, under 25 words for
location and contact info) and formatting is based on their preferred message size
and format.

FREE Ham Radio Field Day.
Come see what ham radio really is.
Talk to the world. Members of the
Boston Amateur Radio Club, Boston
Emergency Radio Team, and
Salvation Army Tactical Emergency
Radio Team join other hams age
6 to 102 across the world to show how
ham radio helps in hurricanes, fires,
and other disasters and makes sports
events and special events safer. Other
demos include satellite communications,
digital communications, how to talk to
the International Space Station, free
"greeting card" radiograms, and ham
radio's role in education.
Sat. 2-8 p.m., Larz Anderson Park,
Brookline. Also Sun. 9 a.m to 1 p.m.
Free. 617-661-2988, 508- 650-9440

I expect this to generate a lot of suggestions. Anyone who wants to improve
on this is encouraged to do so. I will be collecting alternative versions at
Old Country Buffet this Sunday.
The result goes to the Globe Monday morning.
