Members of the the Boston Amateur Radio Club Emergency Response Team, and
all available club members are asked to monitor the two club repeaters,
145.23 (pl88.5) and 447.175 (pl110.9) for the next 24 hours, or until the
expected Nor'easter diminishes.
An Informal Net will be activated early in the day, and continue through
out the storm period listening for emergency traffic, and also be available
to place telephone calls.
Members of BERT, or others that are available for any possible field
deployment, if needed, should pass their call, name, city, and contact
information to the Net Control Operator. Members who would like to volunteer
for a 2 hour watch period should make that known to the 145.23 Net Control
Station. He/she will fit you into a time slot.
Members other than BARC who are on this BARC-list are urged to contact
their Club Officials to setup a watch on their club repeaters.
It is not known yet if the Bunker will be activated, or on the need for
Local City and Town EOC activation's. However, all ARES and RACES members
should check their batteries condition, and have the necessary warm clothing
in their GO-KITS. BE PREPARED.

TO: BERT TEAM LEADERSHIP
As I am sure you are aware, one of the main problems that BERT is suffering
from is lack of activation in any sense. Tomorrow we have the chance to
change that! What do you think about establishing a "Informal" NET
tomorrow/tomorrow night for storm coverage. If we could get several members
to just standby and be available to pass emergency traffic or make
necessary telephone calls, it may give the team the jump start it so badly
needs. It may be a good idea also for the net control operators to keep a
list of BARC and BERT members who are available for field deployment if
needed. If the storm really hits us as predicted, telephone service as well
as cell phones could be compromised. It is important for people to know
that during the storm tomorrow, they can get help on 23! I would suggest 2
or three hour shifts. This would prevent burnout and get more people
involved.
I would suggest a brief announcement every 15 to 30 minutes on the Boston
repeaters stating that an informal net has been established.
