Hi, Dave. Three approaches to a solution come to mind: Scouts, EMA
ARRL officials and ham radio clubs in your area.
1. Ask the Scout Executives at your local Council office about JOTA
activities. Ask local Scout leaders, Scoutmasters and Troop Committee
people; about JOTA activities. The Scout Executives can provide
information, email addresses and telephone numbers, etc.; on how to contact
local leaders.
2. ARRL supports JOTA, http://www.arrl.org/FandES/ead/jota.html and
associated links.
EMA ARRL officials are listed in the right hand column
of: http://www.arrl.org/sections/?sect=EMA
and will have information regarding JOTA activities in your area.
3. To contact ham radio clubs in your area regarding JOTA activities
please visit: http://www.arrl.org/FandES/field/club/clubsearch.phtml
Many of the Web search responses will provide Web URLs, email addresses and
telephone numbers that will help you to find local clubs sponsoring JOTA
activities.

The "club search" Web URL above can also be helpful in finding
classes for a new ham in North-Central MA / Athol.
Hope that the above will be of help to your friend in finding a
JOTA site for her son's scout troop. Please email me
at: mailto:[email protected] if you need additional JOTA information.
The Boston Amateur Radio Club will be operating a JOTA site in
Hingham on Saturday, October 19, with the call sign "W1BOS".
