FYI, in a boni-fide emergency with widespread power loss, it is likely that
the Waltham, 146.64, machine may still be operational (as well as the other
WARA club machines on 440, 220, and 6 meters) since the site has a backup
generator powered by a substantial propane tank. It was installed for the
Waltham city radios at the site, but the ham repeaters are plugged into the
same circuit.
However, we don't know ... how long the propane will last, and how long the
commercial power outage will last. And, of course, there's always the
possiblily that Murphy will stick his nose in the works and gum things up
and nothing will work :-(
