General advice on demos ...
* get a volunteer and specific equipment (as needed) assigned to each of the
100-pt bonuses in advance
* work the bonus as early in the period as possible (for those it applies to)
* Take pictures, keep records
* lets include name/call of who earns each bonus in the FD report website.
(If you reply to this message on JUST ONE demo, please modify subject)
Long form of my discussion of bonus rules is at

=========================
7.3.1. 100% Emergency Power: 100@ x our #A. Easy at our site, we're 100%
generator or battery.
Paul N1ZKR is handling distribution, lots of folks (everyone!) brining power
cords (marked w/ call!).
Mark KB1EKN brining main gen.
Bill n1VUX may bring spare.
[]Do we have a volunteer generator-tender?
7.3.2. Media Publicity: Sounds like KA1MOM has this under control.
7.3.3. Public Location: Location does it, thanks to Bob and the committee that
talked to Brookline the second time.
7.3.4. Public Information Table: visitor's log required (not exactly, but ...)
[] Who's staffing the table?
[]Order more handouts from ARRL HQ? who?
[] Visitor log - Bob's nice form would be better than scrap paper. Someone get
some from Bob w/ clipboards?
See also message handling.
[]Big "Public Welcome" sign in addition to Club Banner would boost walk-ins.
7.3.5. Message Origination to Section Manager:
[ EMA ARES Requests you transmit to both your SM and your DEC, rather than
your SEC. ]
[] Operator/Member sign-in sheet must have ARES MEMBER column. (Bob's
clipboard?)
[] Have ARES signup forms handy!
[] Must format message & send preferably Saturday night in NTS nets.
7.3.6. Message Handling: 10 points @ NTS msg max 100pts, Orig&Sent, Rec&Sent
(relay) or Rec & Deliv, during the Field Day period, Properly serviced copies
of each message must be included.
- Have several different message handling forms at Public Service / PR table.
- must be originated _for the public_
NTS Posters
PR to push "birthday or equinox greetings" opportunity
Perhaps a special Happy Equinox message form for 2002?
Field Day message origination form available from downloads / FTP area.
[] Anyone want to organize posters?
[] anyone want to help info table take traffic?
[] who wants to handle NTS net?
7.3.7. Satellite QSO: 100 for 1st Sat FD QSO . Satellite QSOs also count for
regular QSO credit.
Note that getting a Dup-sheet from Satellite tents would count as extra QSOs,
they're their own "band".
AMSAT Field Day runs for WHOLE period, so don't cut their power, just grab
their ARRL Field Day Dup Sheet at close of the site's ARRL FD Operating Period
& power-down.
If fulltime AMSAT station, great. If not, VHF/UHF station should be equipped
with antennas to work one.
- May have full AMSAT az-el station, TBD.
- Leo is probably bringing Arrow antenna.
- Bill n1vux is brining FT-736
- Bill 'mom is bringing crossed-Moxons.
7.3.8. Alternate Power: 100 for five QSOs. Requires use of either the VHF-free
or another counted Transmitter, NOT free.
Do these first, as whatever band they're on, the ones workable with QRP
will be the easy ones, which someone else will already have worked if you
don't work them this way first.
Usually we do this as Solar, charging a dead battery on a panel from start of
set-up period. Usually 2m FM, but could be QRP CW on lemon-cells.
[] Several members have, usually bring solar cells. please do bring them, and
a dead batter for 'em to charge.
[] Who would like to work some of the easy stations on battery power? Should
start charging at 10AM, start operating at 2PM.
7.3.9. W1AW Bulletin: 100 bonus points for copying the special Field Day
bulletin transmitted by W1AW during its operating schedule during the Field
Day weekend (listed in this rules announcement). An accurate copy of the
message is required to be included in your Field Day submission. (Note: The
Field Day bulletin must be copied via amateur radio. It will not be included
in Internet bulletins sent out from Headquarters and will not be posted to
Internet BBS sites.)
[] Plan this carefully - who, what mode, when?
If you're brining a RTTY laptop, this could be easy ;-) Someone with a
good CW ear can copy the whole thing longhand if they like. Who wants it?
