[BARC-List] Practice Net Preable and Closing

A few of us have been discussing holding some practice nets to train new
Net Control Stations (NCS) and make people more comfortable with being a
Net Control. An impromptu practice net happened last Friday on the BARC
repeater and was quite sucecssful. We've arranged to do this again this
coming Friday, March 1st at 9pm on the BARC repeater. Since this is the
time of the suspended SWAT net, we will check for SATERN or ARES traffic
before beginning the practice.

A list will be compiled of stations desiring a chance to operate as the
NCS and each station will run their own net. After each short net, the
station concluding that net will hand the reins over to the next NCS.
James Sullivan, AA1XS will direct the practice and will keep things on
track.

I've prepared a preamble and closing to be used in the practice which is
based on the BARC Net preamble. The text can be viewed at
http://www.maassmedia.com/practicenet.html Feel free to print this out if
you would like to participate. As a Net Control Station you are also free
to modify the text.

Hopefully there will be some stations on frequency who will check in to
the net and make this a good learning environment. If we have too many
stations who want to try their hand at being the NCS we may have to take a
list of people and have some do it another time. It is possible that this
practice net may happen on subsequent Friday nights as well.
