[Azden] PCS-8500H Problem

Periodically when keying this rig I loose the power meter (bars) and
power. The rig transmits OK and a power meter connected to the output reads 5
watts.I can use the local repeater just fine and all other features work
OK.The low-high power logic works OK and switches between low and high power
and the indicator works as normal but power level remains at 5 watts and
there is no deflection of the internal power meter (bars). This occurs on an
antenna with a 1.5:1 SWR as well as a dummy load.

For no known reason the rig will return to normal and work for a few days
and then fail again.I assume the final is working OK but the logic switch
between low and high power is failing.I would try resetting the radio, which
I have done before for other reasons ,but for the re-programming required.

As I bought this radio used I have no idea of the age and would like to
change the internal battery, if equiped, and especially if there is a
possibility of this causing my problem. Is there an internal battery and what
type?

many thanks in advance for this and past help.

Bob
