Best solution is to buy 10 NiMH AA cells with tab connections,
and rebuild your old one.   (that is, if you have an old one!)
You can also buy NiCads, but the newer NiMH are memoryless
and deliver more current.

You will have to pry apart the old pack carefully.  Then when
repacking, you may want to use clear shipping tape to hold
the case together, instead of re-gluing it.

I have done this with both my 6 and 2 meter units, and it works
out well.
