Subject: [ARES-OK] Amateur Radio for EARTH WIND FIRE

     All Oklahoma Radio Amateurs,
I have received a couple of emails and phone calls... please allow me to share some information with you about a upcoming State exercise.
The Oklahoma Department of Emergency Management (OKDEM) is conducting a STATEWIDE Emergency Operations Center (EOC) exercise on Thursday November 13th (EX name: EARTH, WIND and FIRE).
One of the key tasks for the EX is to communicate with other EOC's via other then daily use means - which includes the use of amateur radio.
Most of this traffic will be typical tactical traffic much like we hear for any public service event - such as a fun run, parade or bike ride.  This will be a office hours (0800-1700L) event and I do not anticipate any great crush of traffic - since the stakeholders in this EX have several different tools to use during this EX (radio amateurs being just one tool).
Several of the EOC's here in Oklahoma have either staff members or local radio amateur volunteers (many who are ARES-OK registered volunteers) that will be helping them during this EX.
You approval of the use of the your clubs Amateur Radio Repeater(s) - I'm sure will be appreciated.
The Nov 13th OKDEM exercise is not the 2014 ARES-Oklahoma Simulated Emergency Test (SET)which will be Saturday, 13 December 2014 (time frame 0900-1500 Local).
Thank you & 73, Mark Conklin, N7XYO (COML (T)) Oklahoma Section Emergency Coordinator
