[ARRL-OK] Mike Key, N5KEY (SK)

It is with deep sadness that I report to you Michael W. Key, N5KEY became a silent key April 3, 2012 at his QTH in Overbrook, Oklahoma.  He passed away quietly surrounded by family and friends after a long illness.  Mike was retired from the Oklahoma Highway Patrol Lake Patrol and Communications Divisions. 

Mike, 56 and an Extra Class licensee, had been involved in amateur radio since his teens.  Because of his law enforcement background, Mike was driven toward emergency communications.  He had served the Oklahoma Section as VE, EC, DEC, ASEC and SEC.  He was devoted to making ARES Oklahoma a source of pride for the section.  All who knew Mike enjoyed his easy going demeanor, quick wit and his ability to assess a situation and come up with a workable communications solution. 

Mike will be greatly missed by the Oklahoma Amateur Radio family.  There will be no memorial service.
