Do you work with Amateur Radio Operators when responding to
emergencies? Are you an Amateur Radio Operator yourself? If you
answered “Yes” to either question, I would like to invite you to a
complimentary webinar that demonstrates how new mapping technology can
enhance the disaster planning and response capabilities of Amateur
Radio Operators.

I will be hosting the webinar and will be joined by guest presenter
David Friedman, KE7GOY, an Amateur Radio Operator, Disaster Response
Director for Muttshack Animal Rescue and an American Red Cross
Volunteer. During last year’s winter floods, David used Depiction
mapping and simulation software to coordinate rescue operations during
the 2008 winter floods in the Seattle area, and he has described that
experience in the November 2009 edition of QST magazine.

We are offering this webinar twice, on Wednesday, October 21 at 1 PM
EDT/10 AM PDT, and then on Saturday, October 24, at 12:30 PM EDT/8:30
AM PDT.

During each of these webinars, Amateur Radio Operators and others will
learn how to:

    * Geo-locate all physical assets and volunteers in “depictions” to
track deployment locations,
    * Integrate maps, elevation plots, weather data, “fly over”
imagery, situation reports and any critical proprietary data into a
single depiction display,
    * “Depict” antenna line-of-site footprints to help determine
geographic frequency allocation,
    * Use Depiction’s “Live reports” communication feature to enhance
awareness of volunteer movements, resource status, damage assessments,
etc. during a disaster,

This special webinar will benefit anyone who works with amateur radio
during emergencies; participants need not have any familiarity with
Depiction mapping software to benefit from the webinar scenario
illustrations and discussion.

You are encouraged to share this free webinar invitation with any
Amateur Radio Operators you may know or work with.

All the best,

Kim Buike
