Mark, you left some out - ICS actually started with USFS, LAFD and LACFD,
BLM and NPS, then was re-fitted by FDNY and BFD before it was "handed off"
to NFPA.

Ok... Sorry for the short hand. Just trying to not use up all the Internet.
:)

Bear with me now for a little "plain speech" fun :)

Plain Speech is a result of HSPD-5 and HSPD-8 brought foruth ICS, NIMMS and
the NRP. Which were the result work from IACP and NFPA. Even OSHA and EPA
were involved in the creation ICS.

After 9/11 various federal agencies are now overseen by another layer of
goverment know as DHS, this includes FEMS, FBI, USGC, ICE,and many others.

And in ICS, we now have IAP, and EFS. Heck now we have a multi page book to
keep track of all the new acronyms.... but it you get lost in all this...
don't for get your GPS :)

Never-the-less come to the meeting on Sept 5th and we'll make it all clear.

I want to know also [NGO], Dean. One of the latest needs for
Interoperability during emergencies is 'plain language' -- no 10 codes
or
acronyms! Spell it out if you want to communicate - others may not know
SET
    or ECOM either.
