Subject: SKYWARN, BPL, SEVERE WEATHER WORKSHOP
Notes from K5EMS ...............
I was going to post this on the ares reflector, too .... but YAHOO will not
let me do it from a second email location. I don't get along with YAHOO
groups very well ... we have given up on YAHOO with the 'governtamental
affairs' group. Every time I try to use it, they have dropped my username
and password.

I want to take time to say "THANKS" to Mark [N7XYO], Pete [KF5RD] and ALL of
the Volunteers that are helping, and have helped, during this Ice Storm.
Mark, we all appreciate the pre-warnings, needs and continued emails ...
keep them coming. The Channel 6 news clip was great, also. Guess many are
still without electricity .. I know my good friend K5JLS still has NO
electricity, N of Tahlequah.

==>BILL SEEKS BPL INTERFERENCE STUDY, REPORT TO CONGRESS
US Rep Mike Ross, WD5DVR (D-AR), has introduced a bill in the 110th Congress
calling on the FCC to study the interference potential of broadband over
power line (BPL) technology and report its findings back to Congress. One of
two radio amateurs in the House, Ross submitted the "Emergency Amateur Radio
Interference Protection Act of 2007" (HR 462) on January 12. The bill's
official text became available this week. ARRL President Joel Harrison,
W5ZN, says the league shares Ross's concern about interference to emergency
communication networks.
note: WE WILL BE ASKING YOU TO SUPPORT THIS BILL ... THRU CONTACT WITH OUR
OKLAHOMA REPS AND SENATORS!! Seems like the FCC is not going to do anything
about BPL interference, so maybe Congress can force them to apply the Rules
currently in effect.
