QST QST QST The Lawton-Fort Sill ARC needs the help of all available hams.

The Comanche County Memorial Hospital, The Jackson County Memorial Hospital
and The Duncan Regional Hospital are sponsoring a charity event called "The
Spirit of Survival Marathon" to improve cancer treatment facilities. This is
the Inaugural Spirit of Survival, it will be an annual event.

The Racing events include a 26 mile Marathon through the Wichita Mountains,
a Half Marathon, a Marathon Relay, A 10K race over Big Rock Mountain, and a
Run up Mountain Scott. The Mountain Scott run is on Saturday, October 14 and
the rest of the events are on Sunday, October 15.

Help is needed on Sunday, October 14. The day will start early. Everyone
should try to arrive at 5:45 AM on Sunday. Two meter mobile and handheld
operators are needed. If you have the capability to go portable with a mobile radio
and a mag mount, please bring that equipment, we will have many busses
transporting people and we may have a need to put a radio and operator on board.

If possible meet Sunday morning at 5:45, October 15 at the LFSARC ARES
trailer (a 20 foot white van type trailer) spotted at the now closed grocery
store, Lawtonka Foods, near Lake Lawtonka. If you can't make it by 5:45, come on,
we will still need you.

To get to the trailer from I-44, exit at exit 45, go West four miles to
Hyway 58, turn right for 1.6 miles and the trailer and grocery store will be on
your right.

Guys and gals we really need your help on this one. It is going to be a lot
of fun. These races are sanctioned and certified by USATF. Marathon people are
saying that this will be the most demanding marathon in the country.
