Last night when Bruce called me with his usual "Guess what?" I figured
he'd found another old piece of National gear at a yard sale or
antique shop. WRONG! Instead he told me he'd taken a lightning hit in
grand style, from a strong afternoon storm yesterday.

Fortunately the damage was restricted to lightweight SS crap like his
modem, telephones, and an ICOM amp. Tube gear all survived FB. Spoke
with Bruce on 3885 this morning just before work, and he sounded like
his normal(?) self.

Having been there and eyeballed that tree, I can tell you that the
pics don't do its size justice. It's also a fair distance (30-40')
from the driveway, where debris landed.

Absolutely incredible...
