Well, Mac, I respectfully have to disagree with you here.  As you say, the 
immediate surrounding counties programmed in the WX radios will provide that 
1/2 to 2 hour advance notice.  That eliminates the need for the type of 
time-sensitive emails that prompted this discussion.  Posts of general 
advisories that are readily available on various NOAA/NWS websites is really 
information that those who are interested can get for themselves. 
(Actually, I have two SAME alert radios, the one next to my bed is set for 
only Payne County, while the second one is connected to my computer and is 
set to respond to the counties within about a 150 mile radius of my home and 
display the alerts on my computer.)

Now, I'm not going to get mad and go away over this, I just see these 
notices as a waste of time, given that I, like many others, am still on a 
dialup connection.  I get this information from free and paid subscription 
email alerts that are alot more timely then re-emailed information.  I 
belong to the ARRL-OK sig for information on amateur radio.  Weather and 
amateur radio are obviously not mutually exclusive, but that doesn't mean 
that forums for each need to discuss the other.

One thing to remember, most folks who have SAME
capable weather radios probably have them set to
recieve warnings for their home counties plus maybe
the immediate surrounding counties.  Posts of the
general NOAA advisories provides for advanced and
more detailed data on possible weather conditions.

My thought, echoed by some others, is that the info
may be valuable to many as a tipoff to what's likely
to be headed their way anywhere from 1/2 hour to
8 or 10 hours ahead of time.
