Green Country Hamfest(OK Section Convention 2004) was a wonderful gathering=20
for Amateur Radio. The event, held at the Claremore Expo Center, was vy well=
=20
attended with many big time Amateur Radio vendors and our Section members=20
enjoying themselves in a large way. Attendees had the opportunity to donate=20=
directly=20
to the ARRL's Broadband over Power Line (BPL) Defense Fund www.arrl.org/bpl=20
=20
Congratulations to Alex Jech-KD5PFF winner of the Green Country Scholarship!=
=20
Vy well deserved Alex=E2=80=A6keep up the great effort. Programs included:=20=
an Amateur=20
Radio study session/test session, Weather seminar held by National Weather=20
Service, League forum conducted by Coy -N5OK and John-WB5SYT, West Gulf Divi=
sion=20
Director and OK Section Manager respectively, State ARES, AMSAT, and 0klahom=
a=20
DX Association. The League seminar was standing room only for an update on=20
BPL and license restructuring issues by Director Day. Seminar attendees=20
completed, in confidence, an index card with age and other information. Jim-=
N5OHL, who=20
gets the credit for the idea, compiled the numbers: Average age-52, years=20
licensed-18 and age range 18 to 84. Vy interesting. Section activities were=20
reviewed by the OK Section Cabinet including the need for all nets to send m=
onthly=20
net reports to [email protected]

A word of job well done to the Green Country Hamfest group for doing so much=
=20
to make the OK Section Convention 2004 such a super event. Just cannot=20
remember who made the PA announcements? Sure would like details on that. The=
event=20
organizers sure welcomed and hosted the Section and Division League staff in=
=20
fine style.=20

Kudos to the Ada ARC for reactivating its League affiliation. Have just
received word of the Southern OK ARES(Ardmore) group becoming League
affiliated, as well. Central OK Radio Amateurs (CORA) is moving rapidly
toward the same affiliation. Great job crew as your effort to have a strong
connection to the League is greatly appreciated with substantial benefits to
accrue. Great community outreach by the Choctaw ARC. The group donated the
League library set of books to the community's new library and a Now You're
Talking licensing textbook to the city fire chief. Appreciate the club
allowing the SM to participate in the activity. The Elk City Hamfest of Marc=
h
6 was vy enjoyable with good interaction, a well attended League forum and
vendors to meet attendees purchase ideas quite well. Thanks to Earl-N5NEB,
and many others for the effort and hospitality.
