The following is from Norm Fusaro (W3IZ), ARRL's Club
Coordinator. It was originally in html format, but I
have converted it to standard ASCII so that it will be
accepted on qth.net mailing lists.
Although Kid's Day has passed, other info contained is
of general interest.

Kid's Day June 19, 2004
Kid's Day is intended to encourage young people (licensed or
not) to enjoy Amateur Radio. It can give young people hands-
on, on-the-air experience so they might develop an interest
in pursuing a license in the future. It is intended to give
hams a chance to share their station with their children.
Get on the air and give a kid a QSO or get your own kids on
the air. All participants are eligible to receive a
colorful certificate.
All information and operating times as well as suggested
frequencies can be found on the ARRL webpage:

Here is a good idea that comes from a club Connecticut.
The Newington Amateur Radio League has a quick and easy
mentoring tool that they call "Quick Connect". It is a quick
and simple method of assisting individual members in finding
solution to their specific question or problem.
Here is how it works: At some point during the club meeting,
the President will ask if there any QUICK CONNECTS. At that
time any person with a specific radio related question or
problem will stand and make their request. Hopefully, someone
in the room would stand and say "I can help."
After the meeting these two people can get together and work
out a solution or make arrangements to meet at a later date.
"That's all there is to it.", says Doris Spencer, KF6QKL,
NARL's Assistant Treasurer. "By keeping it short and sweet
we don't slow down the meeting and we can accommodate several
requests for help."
This format also let others know who the "experts" are, even
if they don't have a question or problem at the moment.
The Newington Amateur Radio League, Inc. (NARL) is an ARRL-
affiliated Special Services Club dedicated to the promotion
of amateur radio and public service. Proceeds are contributed
to charitable, scholarship, and civic activities.
