Thanksgiving Poem

Twas the night of Thanksgiving,=20

 but I just couldn't sleep.=20

 I tried counting backwards;=20

 I tried counting sheep.=20

 The leftovers beckoned the dark meat and white,=20

 But I fought the temptation with all of my might.=20

 Tossing and turning with anticipation,
 The thought of a snack became infatuation.=20

 So, I raced to the kitchen, flung open the door=20

 And gazed at the fridge, full of goodies galore.=20

 I gobbled up turkey and buttered potatoes,=20

 Pickles and carrots, beans and tomatoes.=20

 I felt myself swelling so plump and so round,=20

Till all of a sudden I rose off the ground.=20

 I crashed through the ceiling, floating into the  sky,=20

 With a mouthful of pudding and a handful of pie.=20

 But, I managed to yell as I soared past the trees=20

 Happy eating to all, pass the cranberries, please!=20

 May your stuffing be tasty; may your turkey be  plump.=20

 May your potatoes 'n gravy have nary a lump.=20

 May your yams be delicious; may your pies take the  prize,=20

 May your Thanksgiving dinner stay off of your  thighs.=20
