Chanute Kansas Hamfest
October 9, 2004

Information sheet

The Chanute AARC annually sponsors a hamfest. In 2004 the date will be
October 9th from 8:00 a.m. to 1200 noon. Attendance at previous hamfests has
ranged from approximately 60 to 145 people. The hamfest is located at the
Zion Lutheran Church Activity Center, 1202 W. Main Street. This is a brand
new building (ADA compliant). Talk in is on the CAARC repeater 146.745 with
tone code 100.

Setup is available for vendors and exhibitors on Friday 10/8 from 5 p.m. to
7 p.m. Club members are available during this time only to assist with
carrying items into the building. Doors open at 6:30 a.m. on 10/9 for those
that want to set up on the day of the hamfest. Please NO sales prior to the
8 a.m. start time!!

Fees are: the first 3 tables free and $3 for each additional table. A $2
admission fee is charged to all attendees. (Club members, vendors &
exhibitors included.)

There are several motels available in the area. There is also a RV park
located at the SW end of Chanute. A few choices for lodging are Holiday Park
Inn (620) 431-0850 and Super 8 Motel (620) 431-7788.

For meals there are several places to eat. A few of the choices are
McDonalds, Sonic Drive In, Pizza Hut, El Publitos, Subway and Holiday Park
Inn.

Chanute is home of the Martin & Osa Johnson Safari Museum the #1 rated
Kansas museum.

Recently opened is a 24 hour Walmart Supercenter.
