Sorry, here's the text to what should have been attached to the previous
email.
NACOGDOCHES HAM RADIO SUPPORT ENDING WEDNESDAY, FEB 12
Any hams scheduled to arrive on Wednesday, Feb 12 or later TO NACOGDOCHES
are requested to NOT travel to Nacogdoches. The amateur radio operations in
support of Nacogdoches will cease Wednesday evening.
Some amateurs that are already on site Wednesday MAY be asked to stay
through Thursday to assist, however, the Expo Center will be housing
Forestry Service personnel and no longer be available for amateurs.
ANY HAMS ALREADY SCHEDULED TO TRAVEL TO NACOGDOCHES AND WHO STILL WANT TO
ASSIST IN SAN AUGUSTINE ... PLEASE SEND YOUR INFORMATION TO [email protected]
AND THEY WILL ADVISE YOU FURTHER. AMATEUR RADIO SUPPORT OF THOSE OPERATIONS
WILL NOT END WEDNESDAY.
FURTHER DETAILS:
Operations on a local and state level in Nacogdoches County are scheduled to
cease by Friday. It is being reported by the Incident Commander as most
likely on Thursday. Now that we know this, we have elected to stand down our
participation at sundown this Wednesday. This will insure that we do not
have hams rolling in just as the local teams are scaling way back in
preparation of de-mobilizing. Plus, the entire recovery process in
Nacogdoches County is going to be taken over by the National Forest Service
and other Feds and on Wednesday they begin moving in 400-500 ground crews
and all of the support staff and equipment that they will be needing. They
will be taking over the staging area at the expo center and we need to be
planning on getting our stuff out of their way on Wednesday evening and
Thursday morning.
TO ALL WHO OFFERED TO ASSIST AND FOR THOSE WHO WERE ABLE TO SERVE,
THANK YOU FOR BEING PART OF THE SOLUTION!
With best regards,
Jim Lawyer, aa5qx
