Hi:
While the use of amateur radio equipment (and frequencies) by public
service personnel is illegal, it is increasingly common. Last week, I was
visiting Nashville and scanning the bands with my HT. I came across an on-going
police surveillance on 147.215 FM simplex. Several units were operating in the
area, conducting a stakeout. They were using police call signs and ten signals
and doing lots of chatting to pass the time while waiting for their target.
