On point #2 regarding the SSB audio quality, a number of Argonaut V 
users, myself
included have had issues with SSB audio quality. The problem is that 
the quality
of the audio is very dependent on the MIC gain setting and it is very 
easy to
drive the rig so that the audio is distorted.

Ten Tec has addressed this issue in all Argonaut V's manufactured after 
October
of last year and there is a mod kit (a few surface mount resistors and 
caps and a
new firmware load) that will correct this in all pre-October 2004 Argo 
V's.
I believe that the mod kit is being offered for free to anyone who owns 
an
older Argo V and is experiencing the SSB tx audio problem. Ten Tec will
also perform the mod for you for a modest fee.

Other that the above issue the Argonaut V is IMHO an excellent rig. It 
is not
extremely well suited for field use due to its RX current draw and 
sensitivity
to low supply voltage but it is an excellent performer in the shack and 
is honestly
the nicest rig that I have ever used on CW.

I would highly recommend it.
