I had a very very annoying problem with hash and birdies..periodic ones..and I thought someone in the neighbourhood had some old klunker of a TV with an exterior antenna..(we llive in the country).
Every sunday around 10am ..and as per murphys law..very close to the net freq ..3760khz..this wide (10khz..drifting hash would start and slowly drift in and out ..moving like a badly drifting vfo).
It was bad on my atlas 210x which I was using at the time.
It seems to have gone over the past 2 yrs.
If it is worse on one rig vs another..and the IFs are the same..perhaps it is some sort of common mode situation..and perhaps winding the power supply line to the rig..first in one direction..then the other on a high permeability torroid core might help. The more I think of it..the more I think it is this kind of situation. The power supply filtering is probably better on the other rig.
The hash could also could be comming in on the shield of the coax. Maybe try differenet coax connections.
Also..alot of the short lengths of coax in the sharck can have problems with bad connections due to the flexing they get. Sometimes an open shield could cause some problems.
