An interesting idea Earl, hope you follow up on it after retirement.   As for my  own Argonaut 509 I am mostly satisfied it with as is but I would like to have cleaner cw 
 keying and the 30 Meter band.  As you already know both modifications have been documented and are said to be fairly simple if one doesn't mind cutting and drilling boards and retuning cores.

The best accessory other than a calibrator that I have found my 509 is the Idiom Press SCAF-1 kit.  More effective I think than the original TT model 208 external cw filter.  Have you tried one?
